22nd International Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics,
Adelaide, Australia, 24-30 August, 2008
http://ictam2008.adelaide.edu.au/index.php
The Congress, ICTAM 2008, was invited by the Australian Academy of
Science upon the recommendation of the Australian and New Zealand
Theoretical and Applied Mechanics communities. A consortium of
universities in South Australia will host the meeting. The Congress
venue is the Adelaide Convention Centre. President of ICTAM 2008 is
Professor Ernie Tuck of the University of Adelaide.

September 14 - 18, 2008 http://www.mims.manchester.ac.uk/events/workshops/EFMC7/
The conference aims to provide an international forum for the exchange
of information of all aspects of fluid mechanics, including instability
and transition turbulence, multi-phase and non-Newtonian flows,
bio-fluid mechanics, reacting and compressible flows, numerical and
experimental methods, as well as applications.

GRANULAR & GRANULAR-FLUID FLOW
http://www.grc.org/programs.aspx?year=2008&program=granular
Granular materials, alone or in combination with a fluid, are ubiquitous
in both nature and industry. Despite this ubiquity, the behavior of
these materials offers a wide variety of unanswered questions. This has
lead to sustained and strong international research spanning multiple
disciplines, as the physical underpinnings continue to be revealed and
new phenomena continue to be discovered. In addition, there are
intriguing links between granular materials and other systems, such as
glasses, colloids and foams. This fourth Gordon Conference on Granular
and Granular-Fluid Flows will afford active researchers in the field an
opportunity to learn about recent discoveries and to engage in
discussions with other contributors to the field. Invited speakers will
provide a catalyst for interactions by covering a range of topics such
as dilute and dense phase flows, jamming, regime transitions, multiphase
systems, avalanches instabilities, patterns, segregation/mixing, and
related phenomena.
The International Summer School Advanced Problems in Mechanics
The International Summer School — Conference Advanced Problems in
Mechanics — 2008 is the thirty sixth in a series of annual summer
schools held by Russian Academy of Sciences. The Conference is organized by the Institute
for Problems in Mechanical Engineering of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IPME RAS)
under the patronage of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). The main purpose of the meeting is to
gather specialists from different branches of mechanics to provide a platform for cross-fertilisation
of ideas.
Powders and Grains 2009
Powders & Grains is an international scientific conference held every 4
years that brings together engineers and physicists interested in the
micro-mechanics of granular media. The conference is organized under the
auspices of the Association pour lâEtude de la Micromecanique des
Milieux Granulaires (AEMMG). Previous meetings were held in
Clement-Ferrand, France (1989), Birmingham, England (1993), Durham, USA
(1997), Sendai, Japan (2001) and in Stuttgart, Germany (2005).
